Should we postpone the FKF due to weather?
- Forums:
I'm sad to have to suggest this, but we might decide to postpone the Free Keene Fest due to rain. The current weather prediction for Sunday range from 60% chance of only .03" of rain over the course of 3 hours on Sunday, to highs of 40F and rain and sleet and 30mph winds. I know weather predictions are weak (the first 2 FKFs I organized had rain predicted but were gorgeous sunny days) and this Sunday is still almost 3 days away, but it seems like there will be at least some rain and cold on Sunday, April 18.
So the weather is the one reason why we might want to postpone the FKF (because if the weather sucks, it won't be fun and there won't be any people)
Here are reasons I don't want to postpone:
• the flyers are already around town announcing April 18 as the FKF
• exhibitors, vendors, and bands have already committed to APril 18 - will they be available for the new date (presumably one week from now, April 25)?
• if we choose a new date, we don't know if it will rain then, either
I think we should do what most of the vendors/exhibitors/bands want to do. So I'm asking you to please respond ASAP.
Do you want to postpone the FKF or hold it on April 18 rain or shine? And if you want to postpone, what is the new date you propose?
Please email me (admin@freekeenefest.com) your response as soon as possible, or post here to have a discussion about it.
Thanks.

Well, if it's going to rain... I vote for a new date.
weather.com says it will be sunny in Keene on Saturday the 24th, but raining Sunday the 25th.
POSTPONED!
The Spring 2010 Free Keene Fest has been postponed due to weather. It will now be held on Sunday, April 25 from 11:00a until 4:00p.
The FKF will happen on April 25 rain or shine! (so I hope it shines)
I'm very sorry for this inconvenience. :(
